Amy Schumer posted a swimsuit look on Instagram in response to being nominated for two Grammys. In her post the actress and comedian took the opportunity to discuss body-shaming along with discussing how proud she is to be herself.
Schumer is often body-shamed for being “fat” but she doesn’t let the haters take away her thunder. In a portion of her inspirational post, Schumer said, “When I look in the mirror I know who I am. Im a great friend, sister, daughter and girlfriend.
I’m a badass comic headlining arenas all over the world and making tv and movies and writing books where I lay it all out there and I’m fearless like you can be. Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support and again my deepest sympathy goes out to the trolls who are in more pain than we will ever understand. [sic]”
The latest body-shaming buzz surrounds talks of Schumer’s upcoming role in a live-action Barbie movie. Many have said that Schumer is not right for the role as she does not encompass the classic look of Barbie. But Barbie is evolving as well, and who’s to say that modern day body isn’t Schumer? In order to move away from those old ideologies, we need to break the mold; and that is what is getting done by placing Schumer as the lead.
Very very honored to be nominated for 2 Grammys and to be considered to play an important and evolving icon. Is it fat shaming if you know you're not fat and have zero shame in your game? I don't think so. I am strong and proud of how I live my life and say what I mean and fight for what I believe in and I have a blast doing it with the people I love. Where's the shame? It's not there. It's an illusion. When I look in the mirror I know who I am. Im a great friend, sister, daughter and girlfriend. I'm a badass comic headlining arenas all over the world and making tv and movies and writing books where I lay it all out there and I'm fearless like you can be. Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support and again my deepest sympathy goes out to the trolls who are in more pain than we will ever understand. I want to thank them for making it so evident that I am a great choice. It's that kind of response that let's you know something's wrong with our culture and we all need to work together to change it. Anyone who has ever been bullied or felt bad about yourself I am out there fighting for you, for us. And I want you to fight for yourself too! We need to laugh at the haters and sympathize with them. They can scream as loud as they want. We can't hear them because we are getting shit done. I am proud to lead by example. "I say if I'm beautiful, I say if I'm strong. You will not determine my story. I will" #thegirlwiththelowerbacktattoo
Amy Schumer Fitness and Diet Plan
Schumer has been very public about her body, diet, weight loss, and overall image; and frankly, it is not what the typical starlet would follow. While many actresses are hitting the gym six days a week and watching each food item they put in their mouth, Schumer is instead enjoying the foods that she likes and not killing herself in the gym.
For her role in Train Wreck, Schumer was asked to lose weight; and so, the actress teamed up with a trainer who she says put her through hell. Schumer noted that she barely ate food with substance, and in fact, the trainer admitted to Schumer that many people in Hollywood barely eat.
After basically starving herself and working with a trainer, Schumer only dropped three pounds and vowed to never go through anything like that again.
Schumer doesn’t have a goal to be skinny; she just wants to be healthy, so she is actually active throughout her day and maintains brief workout sessions in the gym. She was actually an aerobics instructor during her college years, so she is naturally quite fit. Furthermore, Schumer makes it a point to walk just about anywhere she can, which is a great way to stay fit as well.
Just because Amy Schumer doesn’t look like the “typical” actress in Hollywood, doesn’t mean she is unhealthy by any means. Schumer definitely loves herself and continues to wear fitted outfits to show off her curves. Additionally, Schumer knows how to deal with the haters and keep them in check. She doesn’t care what others think of her because she is happy and successful, and that’s all that matters.
