As the first plus-sized model to grace the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Ashley Graham is not only a stunning woman, she is also a devout advocate of body positivity. If you check out her Instagram account, you will find tons of pictures and videos of Graham flaunting her voluptuous figure, showing that big can be beautiful, too. She is also a judge on the newest season of America’s Next Top Model, making this year one to remember.

Aside from her amazing curvy figure, Graham also gives us plenty of inspiration in the form of positive quotes. Let’s take a look at her diet and workout regimen in addition to some of her most inspiring thoughts on persevering despite adversity.

Ashley Graham on Fitness and Fearlessness

Contrary to popular belief, Graham follows a strict and clean diet. Many people assume that since she is curvy, she eats unhealthy foods and lives an unhealthy life. That could not be further from the truth. In fact, she does a lot to maintain good health and fitness.

Graham does a variety of workouts and they typically include the following exercises: boxing and BoxFit training, circuit training, wind resistance sprint training, and kettle bell circuit training.

She really enjoys working up a sweat when at the gym. Boxing is such great exercise because it works the whole body while burning tons of calories and increasing coordination and balance. BoxFit training, on the other hand, is a combination of cardio and kickboxing with heavy bag training and calisthenics.

Her circuit training includes push-ups, box jumps, high kicks, and burpees back-to-back. She often does three rounds of this circuit and ends her workout with two minutes of jump rope. Another circuit Graham follows includes 10 exercises that are based on plyometrics, calisthenics, and weight resistance. She does three rounds of the following: squats, lunges, leg presses, push-ups, treadmill work, pull-ups, dumbbell bench presses, box jumps, and bent-over rows.

Graham also enjoys sprint training and running track. She starts by jogging around the track, and then she attaches a wind-resistance chute that creates drag when she runs. This pushes her to work harder. She sprints as hard as she can for 30 seconds and then walks back to her start point. She repeats this five times. In addition to this, she does kettlebell circuit training that helps improve her flexibility, strength, coordination, and aerobic capacity.

Graham is a role model for many. The positive relationship she has with her body is inspiring on many levels. For as long as we can remember, there has been intense scrutiny on physical appearance and body shape, but Graham proves that you shouldn’t let anyone define you or put you into a narrow box. Loving yourself is important and she knows this first hand. She encourages others to develop a positive relationship with their bodies by adopting a nutritional program and training regimen and to embrace their curves and cellulite. Finding balance seems to be what keeps Graham so healthy.

Some inspirational quotes from Ashley Graham:

“There is no reason to hide and every reason to flaunt.”

“It doesn’t matter if you’re a size 2 or 22, you can be healthy as long as you’re taking care of your body, working out, and telling yourself ‘I love you’ instead of taking in the negativity of beauty standards.”
