Dwayne Johnson, who rose to prominence as “The Rock,” is back with his stunning performances in The Fast and the Furious, Baywatch, and Jumanji 2. The biggest action hero of 2017 seems to be unstoppable and possesses endless energy! Read on to know what keeps Johnson on the go.

Dwayne Johnson’s Grueling Workouts

Johnson’s trainer of six years, Dave Rienzi, says Johnson trains so hard that he struggles to keep himself out of the gym. He said, “When I started working with [Johnson], he was spending too much time in the gym, which was a little counter productive, so I had to try to limit him to a really intense 45-60 minutes.” While preparing for every movie, he takes his training to the next level.

The pro wrestler-turned-actor ensures he puts in enough time and effort to prepare for any particular role. Johnson said, “For different roles my condition and training and diet does alter. Depending on the role, it will really dictate the type of training I do. For ‘Hercules,’ it was a 22-week diet, while for ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ it was about a 14-week diet, and for ’Pain & Gain’ I wanted to come out looking bulky, big, and dangerous, so we adjusted accordingly.” He continued, “And then the intensity of preparation for the movies depends on the role. The training, nutrition, fight choreography, weapons training, and stunt planning are all altered accordingly.”

Dwayne Johnson works out six days per week to help him add more muscle to his 260 pound physique. Even when he is not filming, he gets up between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m just to train. He said, “I love training when the sun is coming up because it allows me to put on my headphones and step off the crazy treadmill that is everyone’s life. I have my headphones on and I’m listening to my music, and I’m 100 percent focused. There’s no wasted time or effort when it comes to me and the weights.”

His routine starts with a 50-minute cardio session followed by targeting a particular body part. His workout exercises include weightlifting, resistance training, cardio, abs workout, and lower body workout. About his dedication to his fitness routine, Johnson said, “I work out for about 90 minutes, or maybe an hour and 45 minutes. When I hit the gym, I’m coming! I train hard, I come to kick ass—clanging and banging.”

Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Huge’ Diet

To fuel himself for the grueling workouts, Dwayne Johnson adheres to a strict diet. His diet is planned by a nutritional expert team who hammers him with huge amounts of protein, carbs and fats to help him gain muscles. He eats six or seven times a day and his diet comprises of egg whites, filet mignon, chicken, fish, oatmeal, broccoli, asparagus, baked potato, cream of rice, salad, and complex carbs.
