Remember like 15 years ago when Britney Spears was at the pinnacle of her career and told the world she wasn’t a little girl anymore? Well, she’s finally proved it, leading a group of cyclists through an intense workout for charity.
Twenty-five lucky participants who donated at least $10,000 to the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundations got to participate in the fitness class led by Spears, who hand picked every song they’d be riding to.
The charity ride took place at Xcycle Indoor Cycling studio in Las Vegas. Spears is currently in the midst of a residency at Planet Hollywood’s Axis Theater.
Showing Off a New Physique
After a month-long break earlier this year, Spears returned to the stage with a toned physique, highlighted by a flat midriff. But don’t get it twisted: Britney Spears hasn’t ever been fat, yet every time she’s in the public eye people go on and on about her new, toned body.
People, she stays in shape. End of story. Now, let’s take it easy on the hype, objectification, and fat shaming.
But anyways, how does she do it? How does Britney stay looking fit and toned? Well, it’s abundantly clear that she leads an active lifestyle. She’s built a career by being an off-beat dancer, which burns up a lot of calories and uses virtually every muscle in the body. The fans pay to see her elaborate stage presence, high-energy shows, and nonstop dance numbers—don’t play yourself if you think it’s the voice.
Cardio to Stay Healthy And Fit
Due to the fact she led a spin class for charity, it’s safe to say she’s into cycling. Cycling is a great cardiovascular exercise that burns through calories quickly, while strengthening your heart and lowering blood pressure long-term.
Having good cardiovascular fitness is essential for performers like Britney Spears who spend their nights singing and dancing (which is also a great way to incinerate calories).
Because she’s not all skin and bones, it’s easy to see that Spears’ also does some form of resistance training—that’s what provides that toned look. All “toned” really means is defined muscles that look smooth and hard and are visible beneath the skin. Her relatively low body fat percentage is what allows for the toned physique, and her diet surely reflects that.
If you’re interested in getting into a high-intensity sport or activity like cycling, the best source of energy is carbohydrate. Carbohydrate is your body’s preferred energy source and is essential for endurance-based sports.
Keeping glycogen stores full before, during and after exercise is very important, so including energy sources like brown rice, oats, sweet potatoes, quinoa, whole grains and fruit are all very important. Intersperse these items throughout the day, along with green veggies and lean proteins, to get the most benefit.
It’s also recommended to eat a fast-absorbing carb source—like a banana or pineapple—right after intense exercise. This will replace lost glycogen so you have energy to recover and enjoy the rest of your day as you build a toned physique and flat midriff.
