Now that it’s summer, actress and food writer Gwyneth Paltrow is all about salad. Paltrow suggests that the warmer weather is the perfect time to switch from heavy comfort food to lighter salad-based entrees. Salads are a great way to cool down the body, and many of the salad recipes on Goop (Paltrow’s web site and newsletter) offer a good combination of protein and carbs, which is ideal for those who are worried that a salad won’t fill them up. The web site features seven days of salads to get you started. For instance, Paltrow has a grilled BLT salad recipe with chicken, avocado, and romaine lettuce. Other salad recipes feature other protein sources such as hard-boiled eggs or salmon.

Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals Her Detox Diet

Gwyneth Paltrow is not new to seven-day menu plans. To begin 2016, Gwyneth Paltrow started a new week-long detox diet. However, the diet regimen includes an exhaustive forbidden food list including shellfish, white rice, red meat, dairy, corn, soy, added sugar, caffeine, alcohol, gluten, and nightshade vegetables such as potatoes, eggplant, peppers, and tomatoes.

To begin each day of the detox, she recommends a glass of lemon water and herbal tea. Other menu selections include coconut water, blueberry and almond smoothies, soups, salads, steamed greens, brown rice or quinoa, and chicken or salmon. Basically, it’s a light plant-based diet with small amounts of grains, and poultry or fish throughout the week. Vegetables included in the diet include roasted squash, steamed zucchini, broccoli, basil, watercress, carrots, and beets. Paltrow also suggests decreasing strenuous exercise while on the diet; instead, she recommends less-intense alternatives such as walking and yoga.

Overall, Gwyneth Paltrow recommends a nutritious and plant-based diet, including lots of salad. Goop has regularly featured vegan and vegetarian recipes, but changes in her diet have lead to healthy animal-related recipes being featured as well.
