Khloe Kardashian is on the cover of Health magazine for their January/February issue, and she’s talking about her new body-positive denim line Good American, new TV show Revenge Body, and her previously unhealthy relationship with food.
Best known for her part in the hit reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kardashian struggled with her weight and personal self-image in the public eye for years before she decided it was time to make a real change. The catalyst? Her divorce from former pro-baller Lamar Odom in 2013. Instead of turning to emotional eating as she had in the past, she found herself a personal trainer as well as a nutritionist, making her personal goal to get healthy. At 32, the star is in the best shape of her life. So what exactly did she do to get her new, amazing body?
Khloe Kardshian’s Fitness
In order to get herself looking and feeling better, Kardashian recruited celebrity trainer and family friend Gunnar Peterson, who created a routine featuring weight lifting, squats, and leg raises. The focus was to not only trim, but tone the star’s body. In recent months, Kardashian has teamed up with personal trainer Donamatrix, posting short segments of her new regimen to her Snapchat and Instagram feeds. Donamatrix has introduced the use of resistance bands to help tone Khloe’s arms and an ab wheel to tighten and flatten her tummy, as seen below.
Her favorite exercise is jumping rope, though she admits it is more of a love-hate relationship as it always leaves her sweating and exhausted, yet with a great feeling of accomplishment. She hopes to share this feeling with others in her new show, Revenge Body, which pairs real people with celebrity personal trainers to help them make the necessary changes to get in shape and lead healthier, fuller, lives.
Khloe Kardashian’s Diet
Along with her newfound love of the gym, Kardashian has also improved her relationship with food. With the help of Peterson’s nutritionist, she started out small, cutting sodas and other sugary drinks from her diet. She also cut milk and other dairy products for two weeks, replacing them with alternatives such as almond milk. This resulted in an 11-lb weight loss over the short period and is now what she swears by if she wants to drop weight quickly. Kardashian also stresses the importance of moderation, allowing herself the occasional treat to ensure that she never feels deprived.
Having lost a substantial 40 lbs in the three years since her divorce, Khloe Kardashian is in the best shape of her life, all thanks to her enjoyment of exercise and healthier eating habits. She made the important decision to chose real, effective lifestyle changes over crash diets, cleanses, and other quick fixes. And the results are clear as she is looking happier and healthier than ever.
