Mariah Carey Enjoys Christmas Food & Cooking: How Does She Maintain Her Hourglass Figure?

It’s no secret that Mariah Carey loves Christmas. Her album, Merry Christmas, features one of the most popular holiday songs of all, the classic, “All I Want for Christmas is You,” and there is no escaping it; once you hear those little chimes you just have to sing along! Carey is about more than just music over the holidays, though; she also enjoys her fair share of Christmas food. Find out how the mother-of-two plans to keep her hourglass figure in such great shape over Christmas 2016.

Mariah Carey’s Fitness

Carey recently posted a video on Instagram of herself and her son dancing around the kitchen to her classic Christmas hit while she prepares what she asserts is her favorite sauce.

Even in her pajamas, she’s looking fit and glamorous, so just how does she do it? Carey enlisted the help of personal trainer Patricia Gay after giving birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe in 2011. The workouts were reasonable and included going for hour long walks multiple times a week and participation in water aerobics sessions in a swimming pool that lasted between 45 and 90 minutes. Carey especially enjoyed the water aerobics as they helped her strengthen and tone her muscles without building them any larger. To workout her chest, she would swim lengths of the pool using the breast stroke. This helped to tone the muscles of her arms and shoulders as well as her chest. She also would raise herself on the side of the pool using her arms to strengthen these muscle groups. For her abs workout, Carey gets out of the pool and turns to floor exercises. A favorite move has her lay on her back with her arms out to the sides and holding empty water jugs. Her legs start straight out and extended, and she uses her core to pull her knees to her chest. Holding the jugs is meant to remind you not to use your arms, and it seems to work well for Carey as she has quickly gotten her flat tummy back.

Mariah Carey’s Diet

When she isn’t cooking up a storm in the kitchen, the superstar likes to follow a mostly protein-based diet. This includes breakfasts that feature eggs and fruits, lunches of fish, chicken or steak, and dinners of swordfish with vegetables cooked in butter and oil. In a recent interview with E! News, Carey revealed that the main staples of her diet right now are Norwegian salmon and capers and that she eats them every single day. These protein-rich fish help her maintain her signature figure.

While there’s no indication as to whether Mariah Carey will be straying from this strict diet over the holidays, there are plenty of proteins in Christmas foods that she could have instead. Maybe she’ll trade those capers for turkey over the holidays, and really have herself a Merry Christmas.
