Shay Mitchell’s Stunning Looks in Pretty Little Liars: Lucy Hale’s Co-Star Credits Balanced Diet

Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell says she got into the best shape of her life by adhering to a balanced diet. Mitchell geared up for the cover of Cosmopolitan back in June, and when she heard she was going to be wearing a swimsuit, she knew she had some work to do. In two weeks’ time, Mitchell managed to exceed her expectations and achieve her best body ever.

Shay Mitchell’s Two-Week Body Transformation

Before her cover shoot for Cosmopolitan, there were a few tweaks to her diet and workout that Mitchell made in order to get her best body yet. For starters, she amped up her hydration. Mitchell said that being well-hydrated curbs food cravings, and it fills you up so you don’t eat as much.

Mitchell also restricted the time of day she would eat. She wouldn’t consume food after 8:00 p.m., but that wasn’t much of a change for Mitchell as she wakes up quite early. This type of controlled diet helped Mitchell lose weight and avoid binging on junk food.

As for her healthy eating, she eliminated all candy, which may have been the hardest part for her because when she was on set for PLL, she often stopped by the candy bowls that were available.

Lastly, Mitchell increased her workouts not only in the gym, but outdoors as well. With such a busy schedule filming Pretty Little Liars, Mitchell was also performing at-home workouts that involved chairs and couches.

When Mitchell isn’t getting ready for a photoshoot, she maintains her body with a controlled diet and frequent exercises. For her workouts, Mitchell noted that she often switches up her routines so that she doesn’t get bored. Mitchell completes cardio, weights, spin classes, and a Body by Simone class. She loves heading to different classes when in LA because they are fun and keep her motivated.

Mitchell’s favorite class to take when exercising is boxing because it combines cardio, sparring, along with stretches and weights for total body conditioning.

Mitchell even has some advice for those busy people out there: sprint. When she’s short on time, she will run up and down a staircase for at least 20 minutes to squeeze in a workout.
