Jared Leto, aka the Joker in Suicide Squad, reveals how he and his costar, Margot Robbie, went deep for their Suicide Squad characters. He explores another side of the character which no one had seen before. He says he knew he would be diving to a very deep place where he would not have gone before.
Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie, was an equally spontaneous, humorous, and powerful character. The stars look super fit in the movie, and fans are wondering about their workout routine and diet.
Jared Leto Joker Workout and Diet
After Leto gained 67 lbs for Chapter 27 and suffered some health problems, he decided he would never opt for weight gain. The weight he gained was from junk food like pizza, and ice cream mixed with soy sauce and olive oil— did more harm than good. The Oscar winner now sports a muscular and toned body in Suicide Squad.
Leto works out for five days per week—he lifts weights for three days and does yoga, cycling, or hiking the other two days. He prefers outdoor activities over indoor ones. His workout routine includes push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, bench presses, and bicep curls. He also does cardio for a leaner body and incorporates different exercises in his routine to help him bulk up.

Leto has been a vegan for 20 years and avoids foods like chicken, fish, steak, and eggs—which made bulking up difficult for him. His sources of proteins are purely plant based and include nuts and legumes; his carbohydrates come from rice and whole grains.
Having experimented with weight gain through junk, now he opts for clean and nutritious foods like fruits and fresh veggies. He has got rid of junk, processed foods, sugars, and alcohol.
Margot Robbie Workout Routine and Diet
Robbie trained hard for 14 days prior to shooting of a particular scene in Suicide Squad, as told by her trainer, Andie Hecker. She worked out two to three hours per day. In order to quickly transform her body, she didn’t rely on high-intensity interval training (HIIT) but included Pilates in her routine instead. It was not a typical Pilates regimen as she incorporated more reps and an extra-wide range of motion.
In her teens, she was trained in ballet dancing so her trainer made her do ballet-inspired workouts that involved ballet jumps, a jump rope, and a rebounder. “It was very important to me to keep her regiment well-rounded in order to condition the entire body and not overwork any one muscle group,” Hecker told Cosmopolitan.com. After the exhausting workout routine, she still had the stamina to go for a swim everyday.
For the dexterous workout routine, Robbie fueled herself by eating healthy with nutrient-rich foods, but stayed away from counting calories. She indulges occasionally in cakes, beer, burgers, fries and other favorites, but in moderation. Sometimes she adopts an extreme diet of carrot sticks when she wants to lose weight to play a character.
