The Diet That’s Got Kim Kardashian Hooked

Kim Sugar is Detrimental to Your Health

Kim Sugar is Detrimental to Your HealthReality stars have to look good at all times, especially if you’re as famous (for being famous) as Kim Kardashian. The celebrity stars of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, including Kim and her famous family, all know what it’s like to be in the public eye—and with that comes the pressure to look skinny 24/7.

That’s why Kim Kardashian is such a fan of fad diets—she’s been known to jump from one celebrity diet to the next. Last year, she made news for trying out the gluten-free diet. To get ready for summer bikini season, she said she tried a gluten-free diet, eliminating all gluten, sugar, and dairy to get a hot beach body. She claims that this intense celebrity diet allowed her to drop 10 pounds in 10 days—but was it healthy? Probably not. Although she got to enjoy her beach body that summer, the results of a fad diet generally don’t last long—and you may even end up gaining back all the weight you lost, and then some.

It looks like Kim Kardashian’s gluten-free diet is now over—she’s moved on to the Atkins diet instead. After giving birth to a baby girl with rapper Kanye West in June, Kardashian said that the famous low-carbohydrate Atkins diet was the reason why she was able to shed weight so quickly after giving birth.

Like many strict celebrity diets, the Atkins diet involves eating reduced levels of refined carbohydrates and refined sugars, and instead focuses on eating a lot of lean protein, fiber, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats. That’s why Kardashian credits the Atkins diet for her being able to drop all her baby weight in just four months.

The Atkins diet, while popular among many celebrities, may not be right for you. After all, it’s quite hard to eliminate the majority of your processed and refined foods (although at later stages of the Atkins diet, grains and some carbohydrates can be reintroduced). Many people also find it difficult to stick to such a strict diet.

Have you been on the Atkins diet? And did it work?
