Kristin Cavallari, former star of the “The Hills” attributes her 2-week, 20 pound post-baby weight loss to a paleo diet and incorporating some Pilates workouts into her routine. After giving birth to her son Jackso—sorry, Jaxon,—Kristin Cavallari’s workout and diet helped her drop the baby weight pretty quickly. Thankfully for her, she already had healthy eating habits so going on a diet wasn’t a big change.

A lot of people gravitate towards the term “Paleo diet” but I’m going to let you in a little secret: it’s code for “don’t eat processed food.” The paleo diet isn’t anything new or special; it’s just a generally intelligent way to eat.

There are no special foods to think about, so as long as the foundation of your diet is fruit, vegetables, lean protein, healthy fats like avocado, olive oil and nuts, and some whole grains/complex carbs, you’re eating paleo—which in less trendier circles is quite simply known as a healthy diet with virtually no processed food.

Kristin Cavallari’s Diet and Workout Plan

Kristin Cavallari’s diet plan was all about it taking in quality, nutrient dense foods throughout the day.

The regular items you’ll find in her fridge and pantry are things like a variety of fruits and vegetables to provide micronutrients, fiber and a slew of vitamins and minerals (including antioxidants); lean proteins like chicken, turkey, beef, bison, eggs and fish for offer filling protein and even more vitamins and minerals; complex carbohydrates like oatmeal, sweet potatoes, whole grain breads and brown rice to give her fiber, nutrients and energy without providing too many calories; healthy fats like olive oil, coconut oil, nuts, nut butters and avocado to provide energy, absorb vitamins and keep her hormones functioning optimally. You’ll notice processed foods are nowhere to be seen.

A typical daily set of meals at the Cavallari household may look something like this:

  • Eggs and oats for breakfast
  • Apple with almond butter for a mid-morning snack
  • Turkey sandwich w/avocado for lunch with a green salad
  • Almonds and dried cranberries or cherries for mid-afternoon snack
  • Salmon, veggies and brown rice or sweet potato for dinner

Helping her with the 2-month, 20-pound weight loss was her workout routine. She worked out at home for 30-45 minutes four or five times a week, working her entire body with things like squats, lunges and weight lifting.

A few weeks later she began using Pilates workouts to improve core strength and flexibility, helping apply the final touches to her slimmed-down stomach.
