What Was Jason Momoa’s Workout and Diet For “Frontier” Season 1?

Jason Momoa’s fans have another reason to rejoice after Game of Thrones. The hunk’s new show, Frontier, premiered on January 20, on Netflix. The the show is about the violent power struggle of the North American fur trade in the late 1700s. The first season is about the battle for control of the fur trade, and the wealth and power that go along with it.

After playing Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, Momoa has again geared himself up to play fur trader, Declan Harp in Frontier. The blood-shed, violence, and Harp’s blood-soaked hands will send a chill down your spine. Momoa said about the show, “The funny version: me, wrapped in fur, covered in blood, killing English people, avenging my family’s death. He continued, “It gets a little bit more complicated than that, but to get us going, I now speak English, still covered in blood, and wrapped in fur.”

When executive producers, Jeff Fierson and Brad Peyton, called Jason Momoa to ask him to be a part of Frontier, Momoa wanted to prove himself for the role. The duo were shocked to see the star rock-climbing, jumping, and throwing tomahawks at his home. Momoa loved playing his character to such an extent, that he also connected with Declan Harp on an emotional level.

Jason Momoa’s Workout Routine

Jason Momoa dedicates himself completely to the roles he plays. When he had to play Conan in Conan the Barbarian, he was required to gain 25 pounds of muscle. Before playing Conan, he said he never lifted weights! It was in 2010 that he began weightlifing for the first time.

Since then, he has been dedicated to weightlifting and cardio exercises such as boxing to have a well-defined body. Jason Momoa’s workout also includes a lot of upper body workouts. He said, “I get up at 5am and I train hard. I’ve got two young children, so I have to get up early. But I like it. Morning is when I do all my best work. Whenever I wake up, I’m up, I don’t lie there like an idiot. I get up, run up a hill, get some exercise and have some time with my thoughts.”

Momoa also loves rock climbing and even built a rock wall for himself and his kids in his house! Surfing and skateboarding are other activities which the star loves. He hates swimming and working out on the treadmill. In fact, he hates gym exercises and prefers working out outdoors.

Jason Momoa’s Diet Plan

To fuel himself for the grueling workouts, Jason Momoa consumes a lot of protein including lean meats and peanut butter. He loves to indulge in alcohol but considering the high-calorie content, he stays away from it. His favorite food is pasta, which he treats himself to in moderation.

Jason Momoa consumes small meals every two hours and his diet also consists of a large quantity of veggies and fruits.
