Zoe Saldana Prepares for Star Trek Beyond with Steak and Greens; Shares Meal on Instagram

Actress Zoe Saldana is required to be in great shape for the role of Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek films. How did the 38-year-old prepare for the latest movie, Star Trek Beyond? One answer might be steak.

In a recent Instagram post, Saldana enjoyed a steak with some greens. Saldana believes that a home-cooked meal is the best thing in the world, and she also likes bonding over a good meal with friends and family.

Zoe Saldana’s Diet and Workout Plan

Diet and a good workout are clearly important facets of Zoe Saldana’s life. Saldana and her family are 80% gluten-free, and she experiments by making gluten-free pizza crusts with quinoa flour or cauliflower flour. She will then add toppings such as cherry tomatoes, arugula, and sometimes vegan cheese. She enjoys local and organic turkey breasts.

The Star Trek Beyond star has been active her whole life, and she’s worked with celebrity trainer Steve Moyer since 2009. Her workouts often place an emphasis on staying strong and lean. She does three or four exercises in a row to keep the workout moving. Full-body exercises usually include leg exercises such as squats, core exercises such as plank push-ups, and cardio exercises such as jumping lunges. All of these help build strength and endurance.

Moyer is also Saldana’s nutritionist, and has used MoyerMeals meal delivery service, which is gluten-free and avoids added sugar and artificial ingredients. It is a lean protein meal combined with vegetables and complex carbohydrates.

Besides her role as Uhura in Star Trek movies (including the just-released Star Trek Beyond), Zoe Saldana is also known for her roles in Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Diet and exercise have helped get Saldana ready for these roles, and a little steak protein certainly is useful for building muscle mass.
